Speaking at the economic policy forum of the Hungarian Chamber of Industry and Commerce titled "Gazdasági évnyitó 2021" (Opening the economic year 2021), Viktor Orbán, Hungarian Prime Minister, announced that as part of the Action Plan to Reboot the Economy, the Hungarian Government has decided to introduce a new support measure for small and medium-sized enterprises in dire straits due to the coronavirus epidemic. The enterprises will be able to take advantage of an interest-free loan of up to HUF 10 million for up to 10 years. The loan will be deferred for 3 years.
Among the instruments of the Economy Protection Action Plan, the Prime Minister also named the introduction of a credit moratorium and subsidizing wages in sectors in dire straits. In addition, the tax on social security contributions has been abolished, the corporate tax has been halved, and investment subsidies are provided.
Viktor Orbán also noted that after a slight decline in the first half of 2020, the number of people employed in Hungary has again reached 4.5 million.
