On January 12, during a working trip to Sopron, Péter Szijjártó, the Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade noted that the difficulties of the past year did not leave Hungary this year either:

“We all hoped that the vaccine deliveries promised by Brussels in 2021 would not be carried out in such small quantities as at the end of last year, but now it has become clear that vaccines do not arrive in millions or hundreds of thousands, but are delivered to the EU member states in total 10 thousand doses”, he told.

The minister added that this fact will delay the lifting of restrictions and told that the Hungarian government is also actively negotiating the purchase of vaccines in the east.

According to Péter Szijjártó, if Hungary succeeds in supplying a large number of vaccine doses, and the vaccination of the population takes place at a rapid pace, the restrictive measures could be lifted much earlier. This will have a positive impact not only on the daily life of people, but also on the country's economy.
