Péter Szijjártó, the Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, informed that on February 2 the first batch of vaccine has been delivered from Russia.

According to the contract signed on January 22, 2 million doses of the Russian Sputnik V vaccine will be supplied from Russia to Hungary within 3 months to vaccinate 1 million people.

The first batch in the amount of 40 thousand doses is for vaccination of 20 thousand people. The drug has already been sent to the National Center for Public Health, where Hungarian specialists will do the necessary vaccine testing, after which these doses can be used for the vaccination.

“We were the first, but we will not be the last in Europe, who purchased the Russian vaccine, we hear and see how Western European countries also carry out research on Russian and Chinese vaccines at an accelerated pace. The sooner we vaccinate people with High Risk for COVID-19, the sooner it will be possible to start talking about lifting the restrictive measures”, added Péter Szijjártó.
